Why I built this

Hi, I'm Ray.

As a small business owner in Canada, I built this because I was tired of second-guessing every expense. Every time I bought something, I'd find myself looking up the same CRA rules over and over, trying to decode what actually qualifies as a deduction.

The CRA website is great, but it's also dense. I just wanted a simple search bar that could give me a quick "Yes" or "No" based on the official guidelines.

So, I decided to build Can I Write It Off Canada.

I put this together to make tax season (and year-round bookkeeping) a little less annoying for Canadian small business owners and creators. It's not a replacement for a CPA, but it's hopefully a faster way to check the rules.

This tool is 100% free and always will be. I hope it makes running your business just a little bit easier.
